Summer Vacation Suitcase Templates: This set of Back To School English teaching resources has the same writing topic as the above cell phone templates, but uses suitcase templates instead.
I designed this set of resources for teachers to use so that they had a second template idea to choose from. For this assignment, students write about their summer vacations using unique suitcase shaped templates.
This is an ideal Back To School creative writing activity that will not take much time, is easy to assemble, and will provide you with student work samples that you can post on your bulletin board immediately.
You will be able to quickly design an eye catching bulletin board display featuring your students' work using the bulletin board banner and additional suitcase accent pieces that are included with this set of Back to School English teaching resources.
Since I am also a teacher, I understand that teachers often need to change or adapt a resource that we find to meet our own needs.
I have provided 2 different versions of these suitcase templates in this set of lesson plans in order to help you select the version that would best suit your own needs.
The first set of suitcase templates contains two templates: a handle and a suitcase.
Below is an example of the first draft worksheet for the first set of suitcase templates. The line spaces on this worksheet match the line spaces on the final draft suitcase templates.
This creative writing assignment will not take your students very long to complete. The suitcase templates are on 2 worksheets, have thick borders, and they are easy to cut out and assemble together.
These suitcase templates measure 7 inches in width and 13 inches in height after they have been assembled together.
This Back To School English teaching resources set will provide you with student work samples that you can post on your bulletin board during the first week of school.
You can use the matching bulletin board banner and additional suitcase accent pieces that are included in this set to help you quickly assemble a colorful and eye catching bulletin board display in your classroom during the first week of school.
Below are the first set of suitcase templates that match the first draft worksheet shown above. There is an area for students to draw a picture on the suitcase template.
Above and Below:
There are 7 different colors of suitcase templates provided in this set of teaching resources:
blue, brown, orange, green, red, pink, and purple.
The second set of suitcase templates are designed for teachers who want to have a longer creative writing assignment.
This version contains 3 templates. The two suitcase templates are stapled together at the top to make a flip book. The handle is glued behind this booklet.
Below is an example of the first draft worksheets for this second set of suitcase teaching resources. This set of worksheets has space for students to write longer stories. The line spaces on the first draft worksheets match the line spaces on the final draft suitcase templates.
Below: The second set of worksheets contains 3 templates: handle, front of suitcase, and the back of the suitcase.
After your students have cut out these 3 templates, they should staple the two suitcase templates together along the top to form a flip book. The handle is glued on the back of the suitcase.
Below: There are 7 different colors of suitcase templates in this set:
brown, blue, orange, green, red, pink, and purple.
Below: To help you quickly decorate your bulletin board, I have included
7 suitcase accent pieces in this Back to School English teaching resources set.

Color Pencil Box Templates: Are you looking for a fun creative writing assignment and a colorful bulletin board display idea?
For this writing assignment, students write about the following topic: "I am a Colorful Student."
Are you looking for a creative writing assignment and bulletin board display that is individualized to the grade level that you teach?
This Back To School English teaching resources set has 8 separate writing templates that have Grades 1 - 8 written on the student worksheets and templates.
There are also 8 bulletin board display banners for each grade level (Grades 1 - 8) included in this set of teaching resources.
For this creative writing assignment, students choose 5 words or phases that describe themselves and write them in the 5 pencils. In the pencil box area, students write a description about themselves, as well as their birthdays along the side of the box.
Below is an example of the writing areas in these color pencil templates.
Although this activity can be used anytime of the school year, it is ideal for a Back To School creative writing activity.
This assignment will not take your students very long to complete. The pencil box templates are on one page and they are easy to cut out.
The color pencil templates measure 6 inches in width and 10 inches in height.
This quick creative writing assignment will provide you with student work samples that you can post on your bulletin board immediately, along with the colorful bulletin board banner and additional color pencil box accent pieces.
"We Are Colorful Students" contains the
following teaching resources for Grades 1 - 8:
Since the templates and banners in this set use the word colorful in them, there is a second copy of these teaching resources which uses the spelling colourful for teachers in countries that use this spelling.
Below are examples of the first draft worksheets. This Back To School English teaching resources set includes grade level templates for Grades 1 - 8.
Below are examples of the final draft pencil box templates. Students write 5 words or phrases that describe themselves in the 5 pencils. Then, students write a description about themselves in the pencil box section, as well as their birthdays.
At the bottom of each pencil box is the title of this writing assignment "I AM A COLORFUL GRADE _ STUDENT!"
These color pencil templates have been customized to contain Grades 1 - 8 written on them. There are templates with the spelling of either colorful or colourful written on them.
Below are 3 different examples of the final draft pencil box templates.
I know that it takes teachers a lot of valuable time to assemble their bulletin board displays. Many teachers spend hours of time cutting out large display letters or making a banner at home on their computers.
This time is valuable and better spent on developing your classroom curriculum, so I have designed a matching 5 page banner for your bulletin board display.
If you have access to a laminating machine, you can laminate your banner so that it is durable and you can use it year after year for bulletin board displays of these color pencil templates.
The first banner that is included in this Back To School English teaching resources set is a general banner that is not specific to any particular grade level. There is a second banner in this set with the spelling colourful written on it (not shown).
Instead of using the general banner above, I wanted to have a bulletin board banner that was specific to the grade level that I was teaching.
This set of teaching resources includes separate banners for Grades 1 - 8, and there are two versions of each banner using the spelling of colorful and colourful.
Below: To help you quickly decorate your bulletin board, I have included
4 pencil box accent pieces in this Back to School English teaching resources set.
I hope that this set of creative writing resources that I have designed to be grade level specific helps you to have a Back To School writing assignment that is targeted to the grade level that you teach.
The specific grade level banners and accent pieces are designed to help you create a colorful bulletin board display that is also targeted for the grade level that you teach.
Although you will only use one set of these grade level resources this year, be sure to save the entire set of color pencil templates and banners to use for the future. As teachers, we are often switching the grades that we teach and you can use this same writing idea with the other grade levels that you teach in the future.

Are you looking for a fun Back to School lesson plan idea that involves your students getting to know each other?
Your students will enjoy completing this unique project on the first day of school. They will have fun getting to know their new classmates by conducting interviews with them and writing about their partners inside their megaphone templates.
You will be able to quickly create a colorful bulletin board display on the very first day of school by using your students' finished megaphone projects.
This set of Back To School English teaching resources also includes a colorful circus themed bulletin board banner (see example above) and additional megaphone accent pieces.
The megaphone templates are on one worksheet and they are easy to cut out.
These templates measure 10 inches in width and 6.5 inches in height.
This Classmate Interview Megaphone set of teaching resources contains the following components:
This is a fun activity for your elementary school students to complete during the first week of school, but you could also use these lesson plans any time during the school year.
Begin by grouping your students into pairs and giving each of your students the two interview worksheets which contain questions for students to ask their partners. Below are examples of these two interview worksheets.
Above: Classmate Interview Worksheets
Since the interview questions use the word favorite in it, there is a second copy of this resource which uses the spelling favourite for teachers in countries that use this spelling.
After students have completed their interviews, they should begin writing their first drafts. For creative writing assignments, I believe that it is important for students to go through the steps of the writing process.
For this reason, my students never begin their creative writing assignments by writing on their final draft megaphone templates, instead they write on first draft worksheets.
After my students have written their first drafts, they edit and revise their work on their own, with a partner, or in individual writing conferences with me.
Below is an example of the first draft worksheet that is included in this set of teaching resources. The writing lines and spaces on the first draft worksheets match the lines and spaces on the final draft megaphone templates.
Above: Classmate Interview First Draft Worksheets
After students have edited and revised their first drafts, you should give them their final draft megaphone templates.
The megaphone template is one printable worksheet and has thick borders, which makes it easy for students to cut out the template themselves.
The area between the megaphone and the handle should also be cut out, and since this is a bit tricky for some students, I cut this area out myself for my students before I give them their final draft megaphone templates.
In order to give the finished bulletin board display of these projects more variety, I have designed megaphone templates that face left and right. I give half of my class left templates and the other half right templates.
Below are examples of the final draft megaphone templates.
Example: Left Megaphone Template
Example: Right Megaphone Template
Above: Color Megaphone Templates
Above: Megaphone Bulletin Board Accent Pieces
This set of teaching resources includes grade level (1 - 8) bulletin board
accent pieces for you to use on your classroom bulletin board display.
There are 8 separate sets of these megaphones for Grades 1 - 8.
Below are the examples for the Grade 3 set.

Grades 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 are not shown.
